Planting at Peak Hall and Mill Hill
There is something enormously restorative about planning the garden…
After what feels like months of bitterly cold weather, snow drifts followed by endless muddy building sites it is finally time to start planting the gardens at our two new properties, Mill Hill (sleeps 8) and Peak Hall (sleeps 10).
I spent a glorious afternoon at our local nursery trawling the beds and dreaming up plans of sunshine bathed courtyards spilling over with the scent of purple sage, lavender and rosemary. The weather played along with my little fantasy and the glasshouses were warm and soporific as I wandered along their paths. The fantasy was short lived as we are back to cold weather and rain but the promise of spring is not far away and the beds are planted ready to welcome the sunshine.
